DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

Up in the arctic circle lies the reindeer camp Tromsø Arctic Reindeer. Started 4 years ago by a Sami reindeer herder, Johan Isak, he invites guests from all over the world to join him and other Sami herders to feed the reindeer, go on sled rides, and learn about Sami culture and customs. For many years the Sami struggled against the Norwegian government to obtain their rights for their culture and regain control over their land. However, initiatives like this one are helping the Sami garner worldwide recognition for the work they're doing to protect natural landscapes.
